Hello Northwood Families and welcome back!

I hope you enjoyed your spring break holiday and special time with your family. Spring has sprung here in Eagle Country, and we are gearing up for an action-packed end to a great year.

We are excited to partner with Sidekicks to offer a Taekwondo after-school enrichment class for all grades beginning April 25 through May 30. Space is limited, so be on the lookout for registration information coming soon! Our 5th graders have been working very hard on their Science Fair Project,s and we want to welcome all of our Northwood families to our first Northwood Science Fair Family Night on 4/19 where you can see all of the projects, hear students present their findings and get ideas for your own students' project. A $5 entry fee will also get you dinner and support our 5th graders' upcoming Outdoor Education trip to Redwoods Alliance.

Our California state testing for grades 3 - 5 in English language arts and mathematics will begin at the end of April and run throughout May. It is very important that we have all students present and on time every day during testing, so please plan accordingly.

Our School Site Council has developed a survey to gather feedback from our school community. We will use this information to make decisions about how to build our budget for the 2018-2019 school year. you can find the survey by clicking here or grab a hard copy from the office.

We love our Northwood families and appreciate all of your support! Our popular BottleRock Raffle fundraiser runs through this week, and with the winner announced at our Twilight event. I hope to see you at our Carnival Planning Meeting on April 12 at 6 pm and our PFC Meeting on April 17 at 6:30 in Room 10. Come share your ideas and meet new people. We need your help! I also invite you to join us at our next Dine & Donate at the Trancas Habit Burger on April 18.

I hope to see you THIS Saturday, April 7 at Twilight in the Vineyards, at the Native Sons Hall. Our Fund a Need this year is "Joe's Path:" we are rebuilding the pathway from the school to Linda Vista in memory of our former student, Joe Horn. This year's Twilight will be an evening to remember, and I look forward to seeing you there!

Northwood Eagle Attitudes of the Month

April's Character Trait of the Month is Perseverance and Determination! Following through with a task and not giving up even when the task is difficult.

Northwood Eagle Logo

Here at Northwood we know that the positive choices and attitudes that we expect from our students today are what we will see tomorrow as they become positive, productive adults and citizens of our community. With that in mind, we celebrate a character trait, or "Eagle Attitude," each month. Teachers create lesson plans to incorporate the character trait throughout the month. Each teacher at the end of the month chooses 2 to 4 students from the class who have shown excellent modeling of our "Eagle Attitude" and those students are honored at our monthly assembly.
