Theater

Here at Northwood we are so excited to continue our partnership with the Missoula Children's Theater "Tour In Your Town" program, which brings a professional tour team to our school with sets, costumes, props, and everything needed for for a full scale production! Our 1st through 5th grade students will rehearse during the week; learning creativity, communication and social skills, team building, and of course, having fun! MCT shows are all original adaptations of classic children's stories and fairy tales.

2018 Performance

This year's performance will be a sci-fi spin on Gulliver's Travels, conceived and written by Michael McGill.

With his ship wrecked and his trusty computer JCN on the fritz, brave explorer Gulliver finds himself lost in space with nothing but an Invisible Force to guide him! While transporting from world to world, under the control of the Maniacal Scientist of Lapunta, Gulliver discovers fighting aliens, arrogant Horse Leaders of the foolish Yahoos, larger-than-life royalty (in more ways than one) and robots – all who need just as much help from Gulliver as Gulliver needs from them!

Auditions are Monday, February 5 at 2:45 pm in the MU Room. Children must have a signed permission slip to participate.

Performances are February 10th at 3 pm and 5:30 pm at Vintage High School Little Theater. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.

A huge thank you to our Parent Club for all their hard work and fundraising to make this happen!

About Missoula Children's Theater

The Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT), the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for more than 40 years now from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,200 communities this year with up to 44 teams of Tour Actor/Directors. A tour team arrives in a given town with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play...except the cast. The team holds an open audition and casts 50-60 local students to perform in the production. The show is rehearsed throughout the week and two public performances are presented on Saturday. All MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairytales . . . a twist on the classic stories that you know and love. Also included in the residency are three enrichment workshops presented by the Tour Actor/Directors. Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are attained through the participation in this unique, educational project. MCT's mission is the development of lifeskills in children through participation in the performing arts.
